The class continues to practice measurement and conversions while we review and practice our basic skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and apply them to word problems. We have continued working in our geometry books and are practicing measuring angles with a protractor and constructing circles with a compass. The Pumpkin Caper is always fun to do around Halloween. Student groups calculated the circumference and weight, then counted lines and seeds of the pumpkin. They looked for patterns in the results and drew hypotheses from the data. The students also practiced calculating the mean, mode, median and range of the data.

 Here, the students are measuring the perimeter of the alpaca enclosure. Each group calculated the perimeter within 2 feet of each other!
