Circus/Drama January

We did string figures for a couple of weeks. Each student got their own string, and some can’t learn enough figures, while others will make up their own. This is good for small motor and sequencing abilities.

Also for the past month, both circus and drama classes have been focused on the getting ready for the CircOrchard shows coming up in late March. Each student has selected which skits they want to be in for the shows. Ample time has been given to them to increase their skill levels in each of those areas. In the past couple of weeks, skit groups have gotten together to create choreography for individual skits. Usually, the process includes input from each person in the skit, where they each suggest a movement/trick/skill. These are written down, then put into an order. After that, actual rehearsals follow, which will determine if the order works, and if all students can do the movements.
We have also worked on some character work, paying attention to focus, takes (change of focus), action/reaction, and emotional expressions and responses. We are all looking forward to the Circus coming up.
