The end of the year is quickly upon us! The Narwhals are excited about Graduation and are busy preparing a surprise for the concert!   Popular songs were chosen out of a list starting with 26 that were brainstormed, and we narrowed it down to 2 or 3 songs! The Narwhals are also practicing a medley from Ghana called “Obiswana/Tue Tue/Going to Ghana.”   Obiswana translated means, “The rock has crushed my hand, Grandma”, referring to this song’s rhythm game of passing a heavy rock around in a circle to the beat!  The Narwhals sing part of this song for the medley while some Narwhals sing and accompany on drums, xylophones and other percussion.  Next, the Narwhals will do a circular dance that features a pentatonic scale (do, re, mi, sol, la) that probably originated in the British Isles early on and found its way to Indiana!  Hand percussion is featured here. 

Matt has been ‘instrumental’ , accompanying us on guitar, leading sectionals and we’re delighted he will join us on the concert as well!
