Harvest Festival Fun (Thanks Kate and Jodi!), we made a chopped kale salad and helped to make a frittata 

Writing-Children wrote about their experiences at the Harvest Festival or Bike to School Day

Continued Practice with HFW using songs/poems, flashcards, games, and books

Word Study of the suffixes -ment (like moment) and -ture (like nature) for spelling practice 

 Use of syllables to help spell “multisyllabic” (longer) words

 We began our Writer’s Workshop for Spooky Stories. The students- 

Recorded the steps to help guide the steps of our Writer’s Workshop

Applied Story Elements studies as a pre-write exercise for their own story 

Used a graphic organizer to verify their story has all story elements, as well as sequencing and details

Studied and practiced various “story starters” to ‘hook’ their readers into their story 

Began writing drafts, and are moving into the various next steps such as Peer Review, Revision, and Editing
