Art/Leadership
Black History Month
We have had much to discuss and create in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. in January, and then in February, in recognition of Black History month, highlighting incredible artists and leaders who have paved the way for peace and equality. We studied works by Alma Thomas, and the Gee’s Bend quilters.
In leadership we were introduced to Ruby Bridges and Angela Davis and talked about the struggles some faced during segregation.
“Leadership does not have to be individualistic- it can be collective.”
- Angela Davis
We dedicated a few classes on learning about the Lunar New year and all the beautiful traditions and celebrations that take place during the 15 day long holiday.
We are so fortunate to be inspired by many cultures these winter months.
