MATH MANIPULATIVES: students explore through play and use manipulatives for addition, place value, equivalencies, algebra.

Oh, and yes, very rarely, I do allow a student to stand on the table!

Games for math practice: Race For A Quarter, Balloon Ride, Largest Sum Wins, Shut The Box.

Evidence from the blackboard…or other. Third graders have begun the multiplication unit by playing the game of Circles and Stars and by brainstorming Things That Come In Groups.

Their favorite activity: Cooking! We made 100th Day Fruit Salad. Each group had to compose a fruit salad made of 100 components and show the math.
