MUSIC

The 3rd and 4th graders have been busy preparing for the Spring Concert to be held on June 8, alongside the graduation ceremony.  The kids have been busy with an ambitious plan for the concert!  We have been polishing up the song "Leaves Are Falling" which is an ensemble piece, a dance that the kids have choreographed themselves as well as a springboard for improvisation.  We have also decided to undertake the song about friendship "Count on Me" by Bruno Mars with certain kids taking solos on certain verses.  We have also taken on a new ensemble piece from Nigeria called "Everybody Loves Saturday Night."  As a class we continue to work on being good listeners and learning to use our discretion.  We are actively working on excess talking and chatter being the norm and trying to be vigilant about accessing and promoting our best selves.  The kids are very receptive and eager to do their personal best when they see that beautiful music that can be made when focus is the norm.
