Español

This group has been busy continuing  stories that I have been translating into Spanish. They have gotten a lot more involved with the plots than I had planned, so as we near the end of the year, I am encouraging them to come to a conclusion. That way, we can have time to practice them in Spanish and work on pronunciation. Also, as we practice with pronunciation, they will be able to transfer what they learn to any vocabulary words.

Although the Spanish they will be using is not as uniformed and easy to remember as I had hoped (because their stories are all unique), there have been many opportunities for them to learn. They have seen how I translate, and they either make connections to English, or realize how different the languages are. Many of them have had some ‘ah-ha’ moments which is always fun of course. Before the end of the year, they will be reading their books to each other and maybe kids from another class.

For the summer, remember that there are many wonderful websites and ideas online for the kids to keep learning and practicing Spanish. Enjoy!
