Harvest Festival Fun (Thanks Cambria!), we made Apple Foldover Pies

Writing-Children drew and wrote about their experiences at the Harvest Festival or Bike to School Day

Continued Practice with HFW using songs/poems, flashcards, games, and books

Continued practice of letters and their sound and shape, specifically o, s, v, w, t

 Introduced “adding s” for plurals  

Word Family practice for spelling and reading, especially with o words ( ex-og family: dog, bog, jog, etc) 

 Specific focus on the short o sound (ostrich, dog, etc) using books and games

 Creation of a “the” book and a “see” book 

 Whole group reading of Catwings by Ursula K. Le Guin

 Songs and Poems: Yellow the Bracken, A Sailor went to Sea, Five Little Pumpkins, Ghost of John 

 At Home Activities

Continue practicing HFWs

Have your child sing one of our songs. Work together to write it down.

Make an "O Book" by taking pictures of, or drawing, objects that have both the short O (dog, ostrich) and the long O (hope, yo-yo). Print the pictures, and have your child write/dictate the words of the book.
