Spanish
Hola Padres,
I am happy to finally update you on our class. Since the first day, this group has been asking to play some of the games that we learned last year. We have, and we have expanded upon them as well. The first day we practiced Me gusta (I like) with an active game where they chose items they liked best. This year I am trying to use even more vocabulary so they just hear me speaking even if they don't exactly know the words at first.
Yesterday, almost everyone finished a 'wheel' with some verbs and new adverbs we practiced. I don't know if I have ever seen them so focused on a project before. It was wonderful! Many of them wanted to bring it home to play with their family (I don't know if it got there, but you could ask!)
Outside wheel vocabulary: brinca (jump), nada (swim), baila (dance), corre (run), come (eat), escribe (write), canta (sing), duerme (sleep)
Inside wheel vocabulary: alto (high/tall), bajo (low/short), råpido (fast), lento (slow)
Close your eyes, turn each wheel and the arrow. Have someone act out the action (I told them they could even make a stuffy do the action ;)
If you want to incorporate more Spanish at home, spanishplayground.net has great ideas.
