Art

 November seemed like a short month in the art room, having a day off for Veterans day. But even with one day less, we made a lot of great art! 

The first week we had fun making trees out of shapes. Remember when we worked on creating painted paper out of cool and warm colors? And we were going to save that paper for another art project?  We took an abstract approach to creating a forest with shapes cut out of the special painted paper they made and glued on a sky background(blue construction paper) with a cut out of curvy earth below. We connected the elements with lines and patterns as branches and trunks.

Yesterday we had art class in the Tile room due to rehearsals for the winter performance. Rock and I trade classrooms during this time so he can flow with the production without too much disruption. 

For two class periods this past month the kids and I worked on another forest scene. This time expressing with pointillism. With warm colors they painted by dotting with Qtips on the top half of their page and bottom half with green. Once the paint was dry, the kids were able to add trunks and branches with brown paint. Adding animals and forest life with colored pencils afterward was a success as well.
