October was packed! We had a great time preparing for two of our biggest events we have in the school year, our harvest festival and Halloween party. The 5th/6th graders made a delicious Caprese salad (vegan and non vegan) to share at the feast. They also decorated Rocks throne. In Making a Zine class, they made an awesome Halloween Edition Zine with jokes, puzzles and art to share with the whole class.

In Art class the students took it up a notch with an intro to Tertiary: A combination of primary colors. We broke down the color wheel by adding the shades of colors when you mix a primary color with a secondary color. With that, we learned about analogous and triadic as well as reviewed monochrome and complementary.

Yearbook class started and this years system has 3-4 students going to yearbook, every 6 weeks missing Leadership class. The first group is Zola, Bear and Julien.

We started reading another chapter book. This book is called Insignificant Events of a Cactus by Dusti Bowling. The students are thoroughly enjoying it.

For Dia de Los Muertos the 5th/6th made beautiful Monarch butterflies with mixed media.

It’s been fun celebrating all that October brings and we are already enjoying this months theme, gratitude and giving.
