Resources for investigations you can do at home. 

Below is a link to a Google document where I will be compiling science activities for your child to explore at home.  This page is a work in progress and I will be continuing to update it, so please check back from time to time for more activities.  

These activities are meant to be fun, hands-on ideas that reinforce the concepts we have been, or will be, discussing in class.  While it is not at all required that your child do any of these, completing at least some of them will help grow their understanding of these concepts.

I am available via email every day to answer any questions you or your child may have.  I miss our class, and I hope you are staying healthy and enjoying this extra family time!

February - March

In an exciting Fairy Tale STEAM activity, partner teams collaborated with each other to develop a wind powered coach for Cinderella to take to the ball (her fairy godmother had the night off) out of just one piece of paper. On day two of the challenge, teams raced their final designs against each other, creating the wind power through a straw.

The Earth Day Every Day Science Fair was an exciting production in which each student got to explain and share their unique projects.  From inventions, to experiments, to trying something new, I was very proud of everyone for how much hard work, creativity, and effort they put in!

A special thank you to Peter!  His hobby is refurbishing microscopes and bringing the excitement of the microscopic world to students. Peter donated a stereo microscope to our classroom, which allows us to see things in 3D. He then came back last week to share microchips, feathers, and other samples with the class.  Students also enjoyed collecting tiny things around campus and viewing them under the microscopes!

After all their hard work for the science fair, students enjoyed some fun team building activities. Each student is drawing part of a creature (head, body, or feet). Once they have finished their section, the students fold the paper and pass it to the next teammate to draw the next section, not knowing what the previous person drew.  The end results were quite entertaining, and our class has a new mascot!
