Español

Hola a todos. It is so inspiring to work with this class and witness the continued growth in their language development. We have continued with our conversations and they have been working on puppet shows with props to perform for the kinders. This is very student generated and created, with my support for language. They are quite creative, and it is interesting to observe how each group is working their way through this fun way to learn conversation. We hope to show the kinders this Friday or the next.

We have also continued learning about various Spanish speaking countries. We have listened to one song/video about the South American countries and their Capitals and worked with maps.

Then we decided to begin with Panama because of Daxton’s ties to Panama and his experiences there. It was super fun and he was so mature, knowledgeable and proud when he shared the items he brought in. All of his classmates were completely interested and asked a lot of questions. I also brought in some things from my trip there as well.

We then brainstormed what we learned and wrote the sentences out in Spanish. Each student drew a picture and wrote about it in Spanish using the brainstormed ideas. We will put this into a book once we get through some more countries and complete a page for each country. Mexico/Baja will be next, and I will remind parents to have their child bring anything they have to share regarding Mexican culture on February 21st.

Please always remember that I am open to any ideas or suggestions about class.
