Art

November seemed like a short month in the art room, having a day off for Veterans day. But I think we made the best of the time we did have together.

We dedicated a class to work more on decorating our journal cover (front and back). Not only will the kids create and use to take notes in, the covers themselves will be a canvas for a multi media masterpiece. The kids have created a color wheel on the back cover, leaving space (maybe) for other images of reference. And the front is a layer of acrylic, with some stencil work on top, and their names added by creating with watercolor and markers cut outs of the letters.  Much more to add to personalize their art.

Monochromatics!! Of one color!! We finally discussed and explored tint/shade and value. The kids created beautiful images of the full moon using black, white and turquoise paints. They traveled around the light of the moon with white paint and added turquoise the further out the layers went. Finally reaching the area of deep dark space by just adding black.

Yesterday we had Art class in the Tile room. It’s an expected change of pace during this ‘winter performance’ time of year. ❤️❤️

I can’t say much about what we did as it’s a potential holiday surprise.  I can tell you is that they are coming out beautifully.

Oh!!!! and the kids did this in our last leadership class! We were gifted these frames so I thought we could use them to spread some positive cheer around campus! I’m hoping to have these hung up somewhere for ALL to read! The class loved this project! It took great teamwork to come up with the “BE.....” messages (so they don’t repeat), who can create horizontally or who’s needs to be vertically (yes, preferences were expressed), and to complete this project in the same class period. They did it wonderfully! We listened to music and created together harmoniously.
