Just a reminder that our family immigration projects are due this Thursday, Oct. 12th. If you need more time, just let me know.

In class, we have been practicing skills needed for the project by interviewing peers, and using quotes when writing up the interviewee's biography.

The students went through the writing process to create these biographies. We practiced generating questions, note-taking while interviewing, synthesizing these notes into a flowing biography, and finally, many chose to type up their biography's draft into a polished piece.

Students have also been given time in class to work on their research. Many chose to use this time to work with my guidance, while others prefered to work at home with their family.

In addition to creating peer biographies, the students have worked on preparing for the Harvest Festival. They created invitations for their family, being sure to review how to properly notate the date using abbreviations. I was impressed out how quickly they could recall this skill!

Later, we all baked an apple crumble, which was a very popular item at this year's Harvest Festival.
