Spanish (por fin - finally ;)
Hola a todos (hello everyone),
It is fun to be working with your children again. One of my goals this year is to have the older students decide what would be most useful to them to learn in Spanish and how they would best be able to remember what they learn, given that we just meet once a week.
The past few weeks, the fifth and sixth grades have been working on labeling the Animal Corral. You will see that last Friday they put colorful labels up on the kiosk by the animals. We also played a game in order to practice the vocabulary.
Yesterday they decided on useful, full sentences regarding animal care. Next week they will write them out in English and Spanish, then post them on the kiosk as well.
We had a bit of time to brainstorm what they wanted to do next. Most of them agreed that they like playing active games to learn vocabulary. Then they wanted to write comic strips (or a story) using that vocabulary. We then talked about following through by reading what they produce to the younger grades. I'll keep you posted as to how it goes. :)
