Happy Spring! April was all about Earth day, young activists and recycled art. We made recycled liquid watercolor paints out of old markers and printed with cardboard as we learned about Piet Mondrian, reused painted paper to create our own paper cut outs like Henri Matisse and played with toilet paper rolls to make star ornaments.

In Leadership we learned about the positive efforts and advocacy for our planet by young activists: Greta Thunberg, Levi Draheim and Julia Butterfly Hill. You can create honorable change at any age!

May, Asian American Pacific Islander heritage month, we learned about the history of surfing (he’e nalu, wave sliding) the original wooden surfboards made by specific trees, the spiritual connection surfers have with the ocean and Duke Kahanamoku.
