How fun that I got to see you all twice this past week. I'm really glad we could meet up and I loved seeing all of your pets and getting to hear compliments and appreciations. I look forward to our session next week. Parents and students, if you have the ability, scan student work or creations, such as multiplication board game or how many ways to make 119 cents, and email to me.

2nd grade

Hi! Fun getting to see you today. I was so excited to see your body measurements and some people sent me photos. If you send me a photo we could do some organizing of our data. Also, yay to Emma and Zola for sharing your number scrolls and achieving your goals. It was also great to see that you had worked on different ways to make 119 cents. I heard these 4 ways from students.

For this weeks curriculum that I sent home on Wednesday, here are the details:

Complete Equation Hunt I and II

Grow your number scroll, remember if your goal is penmanship, then focus on that. Writing fewer numbers but writing the best numbers you can, or getting them all facing the right direction, or practicing your pencil grip, or writing from sky to earth.

Look at the 100s chart and fill in the activity What Numbers are Missing and Fill In the Pieces. If you have a copier, please photocopy your hundreds chart as you will need at least two copies this week. I included blank number grid puzzles for you to create your own.

After our lesson on Monday, we will talk about how to create a hundreds chart pattern and what kind of clues to use on it.

Max's family told me they had practiced doubling and dividing when cooking. This inspired me to include my waffle recipe. The recipe is enough for four people. Then, you can double it for many breakfasts, or halve it for just two children. Or, you can get really complicated like I do, and make 1 1/2 times the recipe. If you would rather not make waffles, choose another recipe and practice doubling or halving the amounts. See you soon,

Solve the challenges

Review your multiplication facts and write out the x 3 tables and begin to memorize. Color in the x 3 multiplication coloring sheets. Be prepared to share on our next zoom date

Review trade first subtraction. Remember we used it when playing Get to Zero, and solve the subtraction problems I provided. $1.00 words - We are embarking upon the $1.00 work investigation. Can you find words worth a dollar if A equals 1 cent, B is worth 2 cents, C is worth 3 cents, D is worth 4 cents and so on with Z being worth 26 cents. First, find the value of your first name, Kenza is worth 11 + 5 +14 + 26 + 1 = 57 cents. Then find the value of your last name. Do either of them equal $1.00? Try to add with your brain and then use a calculator to check your results. Can you find a word worth $1.00? Record your findings so you can share with me and your classmates. Together we will create a list of $1.00 words.
