Resources for investigations you can do at home. 

Below is a link to a Google document where I will be compiling science activities for your child to explore at home.  This page is a work in progress and I will be continuing to update it, so please check back from time to time for more activities.  

These activities are meant to be fun, hands-on ideas that reinforce the concepts we have been, or will be, discussing in class.  While it is not at all required that your child do any of these, completing at least some of them will help grow their understanding of these concepts.

I am available via email every day to answer any questions you or your child may have.  I miss our class, and I hope you are staying healthy and enjoying this extra family time!

February- March

The Tile Room was a busy place in the weeks leading up to the Science Fair. The whole class was hard at work, and each student stayed focused on creating an exciting display board for their project.

The Earth Day Every Day Science Fair was an exciting production in which each student got to explain and share their unique projects.  From inventions, to experiments, to trying something new, I was very proud of everyone for how much hard work, creativity, and effort they put in! 

Last week we began our exploration of the force of gravity with the Zoom Zoom Lab.  Lab teams experimented with ramp heights to see which would cause a toy car to go the fastest and the farthest. Students also learned how to calculate how fast their cars were going (distance ÷ time = speed).

As with most labs, the students practiced the scientific method by having a question, thinking of their hypothesis, recording data, and analyzing their data to develop a conclusion. Please see the at home resources link above for more activities that will expand on our study of gravity at home.
