Art
It feels so good to be back in the classroom with the students. After a tour of the classroom and reviewing the guidelines for art class, we jumped right in on making some art! This class had the opportunity to paint freely on banner sized paper to create painted paper to share with their peers for future art projects. We cut them up and have been used by the kindergarteners so far.
The first fundamental of art we are reviewing is Line. The line is everything!!! Or as Jean-Michel Basquiat said, “Every single line means something”. It’s practically the birth of all art, not to mention it’s found everywhere! From the outline of a subject to the intricate detail of crosshatching to adding texture and tone to art work. We discussed and practiced the different kinds of lines which naturally led to covering shapes and patterns.
Art will be displayed at the Harvest Festival this week. Be sure to check out some artwork the students have been working on as well as participate in adding a doodle or two to our “Art is Everywhere” banner. Let’s create together and inspire each other!
***Open Art Studios homework coming home soon!!! I’ll be sharing at morning circle too.
Color and Autumn inspired projects coming up next month!
