Circus/Drama

Students were given both drama and circus classes (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) to work on their circus skills in preparation for the CircOrchard shows scheduled for March 20 – 23. This is much like in late November and December, when we weight the classes toward drama, in prep for the winter play.

We have spent the first 10 minutes in class working on juggling 3 objects. There has been some great progress with juggling balls, and some students have learned to juggle clubs and rings. Numerous students have earned 3 juggling balls, by juggling 20 throws. These successes have inspired other students to be more diligent in their efforts. After juggling, we go off to free choice, with unicycling, juggling, walking globe, and floor mat gymnastics as the favorites in this class. Everyone is engaged and doing incredible work.

We have just begun the rehearsal process for CircOrchard. First, students pick which apparatus or skit they want to be in, then they create choreography, practice the routine, show it to the director, and incorporate changes for clarity, ease, and success.

Looking forward to the shows in late March.
