It has been so fun to start a new session with this class. I have only had the Friday before Thanksgiving and the one after to be with them, so this is a short post. The first Friday we had fun recalling many things they had learned before. We played some of the games, brought out the parachute and played games with songs and vocabulary with that, and they remembered so much!!!
Then I gave them a paper that had 17 names for popcorn in the different Spanish speaking countries on it. They chose their favorites, and then of course I brought some for us to eat….lots of fun. I hope the papers came home and they shared.
This past Friday I had a lot I could have done, but the first game I taught them, was what they wanted to do the whole time :) It is a traditional Latin game called La Pirinola (similar to Dreidel). If it didn’t come home, here is the paper that we cut out and used. They really implemented the Spanish vocabulary beautifully and we talked about how we could use it in other contexts. It was a blast! We used “frijoles” to play, and they received “gallets” at the end just because :) I hope they play with you all. See the last photo for vocabulary!
For this class, we just used the vocabulary on the right that goes with the words on the game. They really got the hang of it. Games are wonderful!
