Hi everyone. I will add more to this post. For right now, I am posting a photograph of the wheat grass poster. Please follow the directions and track the growth of your wheat grass. Enjoy the spring break and feel free to contact me with any questions.

Ok, so… all of your wheat grass basket materials are in your parent cubbies. Please pick them up so we can all be planting and growing our wheat grass. Did you know that it is a Persian New Year tradition?

This beautiful symbol of spring is called ‘Sabzeh Nowruz‘ which is the sprouted wheat ‘gandom’ grown for Sofreh Haftseen on Persian New year.  Sabzeh is the symbol of rejunvination and new life and it is one of the ever present items on this very ancient ceremony. Nowruz, also spelled, Norooz, Norouz means ‘new day,’ and it is the celebration of the first day of spring. (from the blog of Persian Mama)

The teachers decided to only give out a project this week since next week is spring break and we wish for families to have a chance to let go of schooling for a little while and relax in this beautiful spring weather. Of course, you are welcome to finish up and continue working on all materials you had previously received.

1st graders, I have included the instructions for drawing the 8 pointed star in your packet and in the materials attached here

Also, here are the starts I drew and we counted together by 2s and 5s during our zoom session:

We read this during our zoom meeting.

2nd graders, I really enjoyed our zoom meeting and am looking forward to seeing your creations using the 100s chart. Please also, send me your number grid puzzles so I can share with all students for them to solve. Here is Emma's, see if you can solve it…

Also, a favorite family math game that we are revisiting in our family is called Quirkle. Here are some images below from a family game the other night:
