Español

We started out this session with making libros (books) that we have been working in almost every class. They were really into playing Fuego en el Bosque (“Fire in the Forest” ) and Drawing. Therefore, we have been combining the 2 by learning vocabulary to use with the game, and drawing their own creature, animal or monster that they would actually ‘be’ in the game. Toward the end of many classes, we would all go outside and play, using the vocabulary. They all have had a blast playing together and taking turns calling and being it.

This has morphed into vocabulary and drawings of where their ‘animal’ lives and where they themselves live, what both eat, like, do and how they feel. Last class they did fingerprint art to add amigos (friends) to a page in the book. All of them have the lists of vocabulary in their books, so I won’t copy and paste all of the handouts here. If anyone would like me to do that, or to email them, please let me know.

Another game we use to practice vocabulary is El Repollo (the cabbage). They love this because they get to write a word on a paper and crumple it up, toss it to someone and keep wrapping the pieces around the first one. Then they unwrap the ‘cabbage leaves’ and read the word and see who got whose word.

We also did puzzles one class for a change, which they enjoy too. Finally, the last few sessions we have had ayudantes (helpers) from the older class. This has been fun and engaging.

I can’t believe we only have 2 more sessions. Sorry I didn’t get more photos, but I guess we were always busy, which is great! They still love the word “Galletas” (as I often bring a treat for the end of class). Please look for their libros the following week, as I will send them home to share with you and to keep practicing their español.

Gracias por tener hijos creativos y divertidos. Con mucho amor, Sherrie (Thank you for having creative and fun children. With much love, Sherrie)
