Español para enero (January)

For our first Friday back we listened to an alphabet song then matched a puzzle to the correct letters. We also played a hot/warm/cold game and learned “Caliente, tibio, frio” which led into a poem. I made books that they will put the poems/songs we learn into and illustrate for the next 6 weeks.

Jan. 19th - Pasa la bola, Pasa la bola, Pasa la bola, Para (Pass the ball x3 , Stop). We used 3 balls in a circle, and the kids holding them when we stopped got to pick an action to do. Then we reviewed A la vibora and learned/practiced the second verse. After that we reviewed a poem we did in the fall about leaves falling from a tree. Review is always important, and this way they got to to glue the poems in their books and illustrate them.

Jan. 26th - Today was a hot chocolate day. I brought a ‘molinillo’ to stir the traditional hard chocolate into the warm milk. It is a wooden tool that you rub between your hands. The kids either already knew, or learned the poem, “Bate, Bate, Chocolate”, put it into their books and drew related pictures. We used a lot of vocabulary today, and they knew a lot already too which was so fun. They all got a chance to mix the chocolate (many fun observations like the wooden stick floating and what a lot of work it was!), and  of course they loved drinking it too.

Feb. 2nd - We did some body parts review with games and a book. Then, they glued the ‘Cabeza, hombros, rodillas, pies’ poem into their books and drew a picture of themselves.
