Drama
In our once a week class, we start the day with warm ups and exercises to bring awareness to how the body moves, to develop strength, flexibility, and endurance. The ‘statue artist’ is an exercise where one student is the artist, and the other is a lump of clay. The artist shapes his/her clay into a statue, using isolations of the body, emotions, focus, line/shape/movement, bringing life to a static structure. Each student gets the opportunity to be both artist and clay.
Mid-month we switched to two classes a week, teaming up with the kinders. This will continue through the rest of the school year. The switch facilitates the classes being together in rehearsals for the winter play. The K-2 graders will be presenting Nursery Rhymes (original and fractured), and the 3-6 graders will do ‘The Sign of the Seahorse’, and book/play written by Graeme Base. After the play, Tuesdays will be drama based and Wednesdays Circus.
