Garden

In the garden classroom, we started with a taste test of carrots prepared in a variety of ways: rings, sticks, grated. Then we added some friends: first lemon juice, then raisins. Plans for this year are to do more food tasting and preparation, and nutrition science. In the garden, we got our first look as to how the veggies, herbs, flowers and weeds faired over the summer. We have been able to harvest beans, beets, cabbage, chiles, cucumbers, kale, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, squash (both summer and winter) for use in the kitchen for snacks and lunches. We are looking forward to our Harvest Festival the first week of October.
