The students have been getting back into the swing of things in the rug room. We have been practicing reading with a seasonal song, Yellow the Bracken, reviewed commonly read High Frequency Words through a student lead game, gone on a Book Tour of the rug room to select books for their book bags, and all are thoroughly enjoying the adventures found in our class book, Stuart Little by E.B. White.

We are using the classic story of a mouse born into a human family to practice a variety of skills and concepts. We introduced the grammatical concept of 'compound' words found in the story, illustrating both the literal 'translation' of these words and their true meaning. Another day, we focused on writing adjectives/describing words to create a Missing Person Report when Stuart accidentally gets 'lost' in the window shade.
