Art with Valerie
Happy Spring! April was all about Earth day, young activists and recycled art. We made recycled liquid watercolor paints out of old markers, printed with strips of cardboard as we learned about Piet Mondrian and made cute birds out of toilet paper rolls.
The kindergarteners also got to make fun earth prints with round cardboard cut outs and practiced drawing a thousand stars around our beloved earth with white colored pencil and chalk. Similarly, the kinders made super beautiful paint blots by adding paint strategically on their paper to then fold in half, smushing the paint to blend and spread. Once dried, they added sharpie marks for added features and detail. They all looked like ‘out of this world’ butterflies, so we took the opportunity to talk about symmetry and tried to make each side the same.
Hope you all have a wonderful summer break. See you all in the fall!
