Drama/Circus

The past month has been mostly dedicated to the winter play rehearsals, giving ample time for students to solidify their Pixie characters and movements. We started with individual movements allowing each performer to express through their own creativity (something we call ‘jazz’). We then added some movements for the whole group to learn and follow, which challenges them to understand proper spacing, timing, shape, and co-operation. We also visited the concepts of pacing, levels, and sharing with the audience.

We have also continued the movement exercises started in our first week of school, which covers focus, right/left crossovers, and balance & strength challenges. We have started to do some character studies through body isolations: chest up-brave/macho; shoulders rolled forward-shy or embarrassed; etc.
