We started off the month of October with our always abundant, Harvest Festival.  The whole day the kids (with the help from teachers and parents)  prepare food, set up our long banquet table with all the delicious abundance and create decorations for the celebration. This year the Kinder’s helped with the harvest Festival cookbook by decorating the covers! They added their own personal touch to finalize the publication. The Harvest Festival is always a wonderful gathering; a great way to start off the school year.  

With the buzz of the festival and all it entails behind us, I thought it would be nice to have an out breath kinda day with the kids and have fun experimenting with watercolors. I also took this oppurtunity to differinciate warm and cool colors. The lil’ artists added drops of rubbing alcohol and salt to their freeform paintings of blended colors and tones .  We plan on using the watercolor paper for another project in the near future.  

Speaking of warm colors, the Kinders made beautiful drawings of rainbow corn with brown paper husks.  It was a nice way to honor Indeginous People Day, people who live in harmony with the earth and in awe of the beauty the earth creates.   

(Looking at the color wheel we know that purple is the meeting point between warm red and cool blue and consists of many shades in between. Because of this purple is considered warm at the magenta and maroon end and cool at the violet end.)   

 They are a sweet group, always enthusiastic coming into the classroom.
