Art/Leadership
Happy Spring! April was all about Earth day, young activists and recycled art. We made recycled liquid watercolor paints out of old markers and used cardboard to make a personalized box by hand sewing the sides of cube together.
“Land really is the best art.”-Andy Warhol
In Leadership we learned about the positive efforts and advocacy for our planet by young activists: Greta Thunberg, Levi Draheim and Julia Butterfly Hill. You can create honorable change at any age!
“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”- Native American Proverb
May, Asian American Pacific Islander heritage month, we learned about the history of surfing ( he’e nalu, wave sliding) the original wooden surfboards made by specific trees, the spiritual connection surfers have with the ocean and Duke Kahanamoku.
Happy, wonderful and cozy summer break to you all.
