Art/LEADERSHIP

Welcome to Art! It is very exciting to be back in the art room with the students. I am honored to be in the classroom with this class three times a week. We have Art on Tuesday, Leadership on Thursday and Make a Zine elective class where we will attempt in the creation of a couple editions of a class Zine to print and distribute to all the students and teachers. ART

So far, in the two classes we’ve had together, the students acclimated to the space with an introduction to their art journals and materials and review the class guidelines. After all the logistics, which is their favorite part, we dove right into our first fundamental: LINE. Had a quick review and started working on their first project in their art journals.

LEADERSHIP

This class starts with the students being in charge of collecting trash and recycling throughout campus. When the students return to the classroom, they get their leadership journals to write the inspirational quote of the day, then spend time to reflect on the gratitude prompt of the day. We’ve also had a chance to look over the community spirit packets, started reading The Giver aloud and began a class brainstorm on fundraising for campus support (they want new basketballs).
