So proud of the students! Today they improved the class average time for facts quiz so much that we are having a party to celebrate! Everyone contributed to the improvement and students who formerly did not wish to be timed asked to be included in the average. There were students who began by taking an addition and subtraction facts quiz a month or two ago then transitioned to practicing multiplication without being timed and finally asked to be timed when completing a multiplication facts quiz. Each student had an individual goal as well as our class goal and developed strategies to help improve his or her time. One strategy I observed was students choosing to complete the harder subtraction prior to completing addition facts. They should be really proud of themselves!
