At the end of February: We have continued to practice the conversations through games and with partners. This past Friday we finally videoed the kids speaking Spanish. The 3rd and 4th graders were awesome!!! They really cared and did a spectacular job. Excelente! Here is unlisted Youtube video link so you can see them:

March 9th: The students wanted to see the videos of their conversations which was fun. Then I showed them my photos of the previous Friday when I was in Tecate, Mexico with a group of women building a house in one day for a single mother and her daughters (all single moms). We also donated food and other items to two communities nearby. They were all so interested in everything about Mexico. Many of them shared experiences and asked questions. It really got them thinking about what some people have and others don’t, and how people live and survive. Many of them came up to me after class and said that this was their favorite Spanish class yet and how they wished it weren’t over!!
March 16th: We learned some vocabulary for people within our families (many of them knew a lot already), and they began to draw their family and label the pictures. We will finish this coming Friday.
March 23rd: We continued with family vocabulary and added adjectives as well. We discussed the difference between Spanish and English, masculine and feminine, and placement of adjectives. They are starting a book that we will continue for a while. We chose to do this, instead of just a single paper about the family. Next week I will be bringing in vocabulary about things around the home to add.
