It’s been over a month since my last blog post, I apologize for the delay! Here goes.....
Halloween
Before our Halloween party the 3rd and 4th graders created beautiful art pieces of pumpkins under the moon light with glue resistance and oil pastels. They created the outlines of the pumpkins with glue. Once the glue lines dry it adds a textured border and a little bit of a 3d effect. The kids used the moon in the background to determine where to use the lighter shades and had fun blending with oil pastels and experimenting with warm colors for the pumpkins and cool colors for the earth and night sky.

Dia Del los Muertos
The following week we honored Dia de Los Muertos by collectively creating an altar to display art, photos, candles and offerings. Throughout the day, every class contributed to complete the altar by the end of the day. The 3rd/4th graders painted Calaveras on river rocks with acrylics. Our Altar was beautiful and admired by parents, staff and students. Gracias a todos!

Peacocks
Remember several weeks ago the kids experimented with watercolors by adding salt and rubbing alcohol? They used the paper they created to cut out feathers to design their own abstract peacock. It was a fun project to do after the weeks before of holiday festivities.

Gratitude
Before the holiday break the whole school collectively created banner flags to express their gratitude. The installation was displayed by the cubbies, hung above the picnic tables. The kids illustrated and wrote what they were grateful for:
Friends
Family
Outer space
Trees
Brothers
Electronics
Stars
You
Me
Love......to name a few.
We also had a chance to thread beads to hang with the flags as colorful charms to beautify the expression.
They turned out beautifully and enjoyed by all.
