Today we played Addition Top It. The students enjoyed this game which requires them to add while playing cards against another student. It is essentially the game of war, with addition. I am including a photograph of the instructions of the game and requesting that you get playing at home. Our cards in the math game are the type which have the number of diamonds displayed in the center of the 7 of diamonds, for example. This way students can see the number represented on the card and use the cards to help them count if necessary. We also remove the suites cards, Jack through Kings. Aces count as one. In the case of a tie, equal sum, I had students put one card face down and then turn one over and the student with the highest card takes all. When the players have played all their cards you can either continue playing with the cards each player one or end that game and count how many cards each player won.

Also, I just want to say how wonderful the math quizzes job has been lately. The student who has this job presents a problem to the class. This has provided so much opportunity for learning. Here are a few examples:
