Hola! We have been having a lot of fun with many different activities this past month. We have read a few different books and then worked on activities with vocabulary from the text. They were very intrigued with the first 2 books that were mainly in English with key words in Spanish. There were many fun conversations with their observations about the languages. The first was Rubia and the Three Osos by Susan Middleton Elya. What they had the best time learning was the phrase “Gansa Boba” - Silly Goose (because I called myself that for the reason that I brought the wrong activity that day that matched a different book) It was a fun book though and they loved calling me a Gansa Boba ;) We then talked about what they did over break and drew pictures and I wrote what they wanted me to write in Spanish on their paper.

We learned a traditional Latin song/game where they walk around and sing. Then they gather into even or odd groups. It was lots of fun and we played on a few different days.

nunca estará - never will be (the original says they are out, but I changed it so it would be completely inclusive and fun).

The next book was Little Roja Riding Hood also by Susan Middleton Elya, along with the activity I made where they opened the windows to the characters in the book with vocabulary.

We have also warmed up with yoga positions and talked about the words for them in Spanish and  had Ruby share some things from Panama (a focus for the oldest class). 

We then read Perro Grande, Perro Pequeño by P.D. Eastman. I brought in some of my kid’s play animals and they drew big and small animals. They loved the animals so much that the last Friday I brought in many more as a final fun activity. We continued with the Grande/Pequeño vocabulary and watched a video and colored a paper from Rockalingua “En la granja de mi amiga Clara” (about farm animals and their sounds) which they really enjoyed.

I look forward to having this group again for the final 8 weeks of school.
