Art/Leadership
Hello friends!
Winter time in the art room is the best! We enjoyed many art projects highlighting the winter season, holidays, polar bears, all the while talking about color. The color categories discussed include: primary/secondary, rainbow, complementary, warm and cool colors.
Lots was added to their art journals as well as got to take art home.
In leadership we have established a nice routine of starting class with a book read aloud, we discuss the book, do a few stretches, followed by a gratitude practice. The students helped decorate their own gratitude jar where they’re welcome to write or draw a gratitude to put in the jar. They love having this as a free choice.
Performance week followed by our roller skating trip (best day ever!) are always an exciting way to wrap up things up before the holiday break. As we have class together last period, it felt wise to dedicate a few classes to a slower pace with lots of free choice activities, listening to classical music.
When we get back from break we will start lessons on monochromatic and shapes. In leadership we will highlight MLK and peace.
Happy new year! See you in 2026.
